This quite technically focused class concentrates on the core technical aspects common to many blockchain implementations, examining how the most common blockchain technologies can be implemented into existing IT landscapes. The class is ideal for IT professionals who are yet to examine precisely what blockchain technology is and how it can add value to existing IT infrastructures. Although no prior experience of blockchain technology is assumed, participants are expected to understand general IT concepts such as cloud infrastructure and APIs. Core concepts covered are:
· An examination of the most common blockchain offerings, looking into their differences and considering where each particular offering best fits into IT challenges.
· An examination of many of the core technical concepts of blockchain, including consensus, immutability, encryption and smart contracts.
· A look into how blockchain can be integrated into existing systems to complement them rather than necessarily replace them, with an examination into the added value that this approach brings.
· A discussion surrounding the collaborative opportunities that blockchain brings for organisations that interact with one another, including a discussion surrounding the opportunity to harmonize IT infrastructure across partners.
